I made up a little high five game on our clip boards for the children to try. My goal was to encourage the children to explore a little counting in the process and it worked out fabulously…
We keep a set of clip boards on the back of one of our book shelves and on each clip board, the children found a paper hand with five fingers. The children were invited to get a clip board and walk around the classroom sometime during the day and see if they could get five classmates (or teachers) to give them a high five…
Each time a child got a high five, they could color in a finger until all five fingers were colored in!
All around the classroom and all through out the morning, children were giving each other high fives, counting to five, and coloring in their five fingers…
This was such a fun way to build community, count to five, and complete their own charts in the process…
I hope you have a great day today and while you’re out and about, go ahead and give someone a high five. It might just make their day!
